“Election Interference”

Elected/Chosen/Sovereign Choice by grace
1 Peter 1:2 (NLT)

2 God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ.

May God give you more and more grace and peace.

Factors Involved in His Choice
1 Peter 1:2a (NKJV)

2 elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father

SOVEREIGN CHOICE
FOREKNOWLEDGE
Romans 11:5-6

5 Even so then, at this present time there is a remnant according to the election of grace. 6 And if by grace, then it is no longer of works; otherwise grace is no longer grace. But if it is of works, it is no longer grace; otherwise work is no longer work.

GRACE
What Was’n’t Involved
OUR GOOD SENSE
John 15:16a-c (NKJV)

16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain

OUR WORKS
OUR PAST
1 Timothy 1:12-16 (NKJV)

12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, 13 although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. 14 And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. 15 This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. 16 However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.

What will disrupt walking in, appreciating, and living in the confidence of our being chosen by God?
ELECTION INTERFERENCE
Acts 10:13-16 (NKJV)

13 And a voice came to him, “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.”

14 But Peter said, “Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.”

15 And a voice spoke to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed you must not call common.” 16 This was done three times. And the object was taken up into heaven again.

THESIS: Our perspective can destroy our confidence as His chosen.
Us talking ourselves out of what we should be confident about
Us denying ourselves a status that He has declared for us.
“If God says it, I believe it, and that settles it!”
Our favor, our worth, our status, our blessings are ALL because of the choice and designation and election of God.
Since that status has nothing to do with our work; it’s not predicated on us having enough sense to choose the right things; it’s not dependent upon our past.
We are who He says we are simply by receiving it!
Call yourself FAVORED!
Call yourself BLESSED!
Call yourself WORTHY!
Call yourself SPECIAL!
